Lemon Blueberry Iced Tea Recipe

Warmer weather calls for us to get together with family and friends to enjoy friendship, good food, and of course, tea! Tea is such a versatile beverage because it can be served warm or iced. One of my favorite recipes to share with guests is my Lemon Blueberry Iced Tea Recipe. It tastes fruity, sweet, and delicious on a nice warm day. It is a favorite with my kids and their friends too! So if you'd like to try a new twist on tea, here's my recipe:

Lemon Blueberry Iced Tea Recipe

  • 4 cups water
  • 16 oz. package frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 6 tsp. loose leaf black tea
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar

Bring frozen blueberries and freshly squeezed lemon juice to a boil in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, five minutes. Remove from heat. Pour lemon blueberry mixture through a fine wire-mesh strainer into a bowl. Use the back of a spoon to squeeze out the juice and discard solids. Rinse saucepan clean and wipe dry.

Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in the saucepan. Steep the 6 tsp. of loose leaf black tea using an infuser, brewing basket, or tea filter bags. Steep for five minutes. Remove tea leaves. Stir in 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar until dissolved and add blueberry lemon mixture. Stir until blended. Pour into glass pitcher (blueberry may stain plastic pitcher) and chill for at least one hour. Serve over ice.

Makes 5 cups

I like to double or triple this recipe and serve with lemon cookies or blueberry muffins. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your liking if you are not a fan of sweet tea. My kids LOVE this recipe and so do my adult friends. It is very refreshing and as my daughter Emma says, "A mouthful of awesomeness!"

Raising my cup to you,
