Cooking with Tea - Tea Rub Recipe


Tea Rub Mix

The weather is getting warmer and pretty soon it will be BBQ time! A great way to include tea in cooking is to make a meat rub.Tea is the perfect ingredient to include in a rub recipe for your meats and fish. There are several ways to use tea in a rub and below we share our basic tea rub recipe.

Basic Tea Rub Recipe:

2 Tbsp. your choice tea

1 Tbsp. black pepper

2 Tbsp. salt

Directions: 

Mix spices and tea together, rub on meat, and let sit for 5 minutes or longer. Grill meat as desired.

Variations:

  • 2 Tbsp. black tea, 1 Tbsp. freshly ground black pepper, 2 Tbsp. kosher salt, and 2 tsp. garlic powder - Great on steak.
  • 3 Tbsp. gunpowder green tea, 4 tsp. kosher salt, 1 Tbsp. brown sugar (packed), 2 tsp. pepper - Great on roast chicken.
  • 3 Tbsp. black tea, 1 Tbps. Chinese 5 Spice, 1/2 tsp. coriander seeds, 1/2 tsp. pepper, 1/2 tsp. kosher salt, 1 Tbsp. brown sugar - Great on Tuna.
